Coug Broadcasts on KTTH 770 AM-It’s the Truth

I’m excited that Cougar games are on KTTH 770, a sister station of 710 ESPN Seattle.

I like to know where I can find the Washington State football broadcasts – last year and in previous years, I was never quite sure, whether they were on 850 or 1090 or somewhere else.

During basketball season, I heard more static than Bud Nameck. If I really wanted to hear a basketball game, I’d go out to my truck to listen to it on XM radio.

In conjunction with the broadcasts, we’ll be featuring a Cougar guest each week during the football and basketball seasons, starting this week on the Kevin Calabro Show on 710 ESPN Seattle.

The only possible down-side to Coug games being on the new station is this –you can’t find a bigger Democrat in the country than the Go 2 Wife. She loves President Obama and really loved Bill Clinton. She doesn’t care for most Republicans or Tea Party types, so I naturally go out of my way to say that Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann are hot just to be further infuriating.

She can’t stand conservative talk radio and cringes when she hears the names Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity, whose shows are carried by KTTH.

In many commercial breaks during Washington State’s first game against Idaho State, Hannity’s and Limbaugh’s shows were promoted over and over again. I had no problem with that because I like the fact that, even if it’s in a small way, I am connected to my alma mater through my job at the sister station, 710 ESPN Seattle.

But when the Go 2 Wife is in my truck during future broadcasts, THAT will be interesting. I can already hear her going off and/or sticking her finger down her throat when she hears Hannity’s voice.

I can already picture myself chuckling and turning down the radio or if I feel like being a jerk of a husband that day, TURNING IT UP.

Not sure what your reaction was if you listened to the first broadcast on the new station but would be interested in your comments.

THE GUYS FROM DAWGMAN: As I’ve mentioned before, the best radio show known to man is the Husky post-game show on KJR following a particularly devastating Husky loss.

If Eastern Washington had beaten the Dawgs, even though I work at a competing sports-talk station, I would have been front and center Saturday night, listening to Hugh Millen, Dave Mahler and Dick Baird whine about the injustice of it all. If you’re a Coug, it would have been a must-listen, guaranteed to elicit belly laughs galore.

On Saturday mornings, I also make a point to listen to “The Guys from Dawgman” on KJR – BUT ONLY during commercial breaks of “The John Clayton Show” on 710 ESPN Seattle of course. (Can’t wait to hear what Irish Minky says about Notre Dame’s loss to South Florida next week.)

Dawgman.com is a Coug fan’s least favorite website because it caters to all things purple and gold. Kim Grinolds runs the site and the show, and I admit to liking Kim for some reason. Grinolds, Chris Fetters and Scott Eklund host the show, and the reason I bring it up is because this is the only show in the universe that regularly features a strength coach.

If you’re never heard strength-coach radio, I highly advise you to tune in to get the pearls of wisdom from Washington’s Ivan Lewis, who gets credit for everything positive the Huskies have ever done since he was hired.

The Huskies are bigger and stronger because of Ivan Lewis. They’re faster and quicker because of Ivan Lewis. They will soon be national champions because of Ivan Lewis.

And if it weren’t for Ivan Lewis, the Huskies would have lost to Eastern Washington. This guy’s unbelievable! Actually, I have no idea if he’s unbelievable or not, but they talk about him like he’s God’s gift to strength coaching, as if he’s somehow the best strength coach ever. Personally, I’ll take Steve Emtman and the points in any kind of strength-coach match against Ivan Lewis, and I’ll bet my stud-hoss from Cheney wins straight up.

Don’t miss it – strength-coach radio. If you’re wondering who’s an animal in the weight room or who’s bench-pressing what, Ivan Lewis is your man for the latest facts and figures you don’t give a crap about but he’ll give them to you anyway!

  1. IT’S TUEL TIME! Oh wait…

  2. Yeah, no room in sports for politics, especially the more controversial ones…but not going to complain if I get to hear our Cougs. Go Cougs!!
