Still Can’t Get Over That Loss To The Jackrabbits

You know what they say – tis the season to be jolly, and I’m still singing fa la la la la la la la la after that amazingly wonderful loss by the Husky basketball team Sunday afternoon.

Every Husky loss is wonderful, but this one was amazingly wonderful for a number of reasons:

• Washington lost to South Dakota State, a team that had lost 89-70 to North Dakota in its previous game.

• Washington lost to a team called the Jackrabbits? The flippin’ Jackrabbits! How beautiful is that? Extensive Go 2 Guy research reveals that jackrabbits weigh 3 to 6 pounds and have really big ears. They like to dine on shrubs and grasses and overrated Huskies.

• The Dawgs not only lost to the Jackrabbits, they lost by 19 points to the Jackrabbits. South Dakota State was in command throughout the game, leading 41-19 at one point and 51-33 at the time.

My only disappointment – not being there to see it, and missing the ROOT Sports broadcast too. I heard that it was one of the worst U-Dub performances of all-time and if that’s the case, it rockets right to the top of the Go 2 Guy’s list of Husky choke jobs over the years.

According to athletic department officials at South Dakota State, Nate Wolters of the fightin’ Jackrabbits has accepted an invitation to enter the Go 2 Guy’s Hall of Fame. The junior guard had 34 points, seven assists and five rebounds in the 92-73 win. If I ever meet him, I’ll thank him for being so damn good on Sunday.

The Huskies are supposed to be the sharpshooters from 3-point range, but my Jackrabbits nailed 10 of 16 treys to the Dawgs’ 5 of 18.

Love it, love it, love it. Anytime there’s angst in Probation Nation, it just warms my heart. I got a huge kick out of it yesterday. On his KJR radio show, Dave Mahler actually said that Thursday’s game against Cal-State Northridge is a big one. Cal-State Northridge????!!!!! I don’t even know what their nickname is, but I’ll find out, and I’ll be pulling for them.

Can you imagine what it would be like if the Dawgs lost back to back to South Dakota State and Cal-State Northridge on their home floor? You have? Me too!

Oh, just found out that Cal-State Northridge’s nickname is the Matadors for whatever that’s worth. They’re 3-6 this year after going 4-26 last year. They did beat Pepperdine though, and the Waves play the Cougs Thursday night at Key Arena in the Cougar Hardwood Classic. And Pepperdine beat Arizona State in Tempe this year, so the Matadors just might have enough fight to beat the Dawgs too.

THIS AND THAT: With a bid of more than $51 million, the Rangers won the right to negotiate a contract with Japanese right-hander Yu Darvish. The Rangers look like they’re trying to keep up with the Angels while the Mariners, with pending acquisitions of George Sherrill and a backup slap-hitting shortstop from Japan, look like they’re trying to keep up with the A’s…Marshawn Lynch has rushed for a touchdown in six straight games, but expect that streak to end on Christmas Eve – the 49ers have not allowed a rushing TD all year…Tonight’s a big night at the Go 2 House – we’re putting up the annual Cougar Christmas tree in the Cougar room. The tree is trimmed from head to toe in crimson and gray. Go Cougs.

I understand the dawgs were doing their best Elmer Fudd impression

  3. Thursday night!! Key Arena??? They’re calling it the Cougar Hardwood Classic????

    Definition clas–ic (klas-ic)
    adjective
    1. of the highest quality, class, rank
    2. standard or rank

Another chance to show Seattle the quality of how much your teams stink. Like that tank job in Century Link against the Beavers?? This the same team that was up 2 at the half against Western Oregon???

    • tlam,

Yes and we won by 20+. Tell me again what happened when the mighty Jackrabbits of South Dakota State came into Hec Ed the other night.

      Go Cougs!

tlam – that’s some cajones you got there, pal… did you even READ the article? Assuming you’re a Jack Husky, please remind everyone of the outcomes of the WSU vs. Western Oregon and UW vs. South Dakota State games. Thanks for stopping by!

    Go Cougs Jim!
