Will The Third Be Number One?
I wrote a column for the Kitsap Sun about the Seahawks’ quarterback situation yesterday morning BEFORE Pete Carroll announced that Russell Wilson has a shot to start.
Now it’s a three-man race with Wilson, the third-round draft choice from Wisconsin; Matt Flynn, the free-agent acquisition from Green Bay; and Tarvaris Jackson, the incumbent starter.
In the column, I speculated that Flynn will win the job hands down over Jackson and that Wilson will be the backup. Jackson will be released before the season starts, saving the Seahawks the $4 million they’d have to pay him if he stuck around.
I’d list the odds as follows on earning the starting job:
FLYNN: 1-5
WILSON: 20-1
JACKSON: 100-1
JOSH PORTIS: 5,000-1

Thanks, have a great day and Go Cougs. “The Kevin Calabro Show” on 710 ESPN Seattle is taking the day off as long as the Mariners’ game in Boston is not rained out.
