Thanks for visiting my website. I was a sportswriter at the Seattle Post-Intelligencer for 26 years until the newspaper closed in March 2009. The paper maintained its website, and I continue to write sports columns for seattlepi.com.

In Seattle I’m known as the Go 2 Guy, and I agree, it’s a dumb nickname. Sounds arrogant as hell. As if I’m anyone’s Go 2 Guy for anything. But the managing editor slapped the nickname on me, and I just went with it because he was my boss and I was a suck-up.

A few particulars: I’m 52 and married, with three kids – a daughter who’s 18 and a freshman at Washington State, and 5-year-old twin boys who are kindergartners. My explanation: Fertility and stupidity. I also have a 6-year-old golden retriever that I take with me almost every day. I’m as crazy about him as I am my kids.

I drink beer, play golf and root hard for my alma mater, Washington State, though the Cougs had the worst football in the country this year. As a self-admitted slacker, I prefer days off to days on, and I’ve had a lot of those since the P-I closed. I tell myself that I need to buckle down and be more responsible, then I wake up the next day and go: “Nah.”
